How freshness works

We pull each city's permit API daily at 4–6 AM UTC. The source lag is the median difference between when a city publishes a permit and when we ingested it — shorter is better.

• Green badge — updated within the last 12 hours (same-day)
• Yellow badge — updated within the last 36 hours (yesterday's run)
• Red badge — data is 3+ days old (API outage or city publishing delay)

Austin, Seattle, NYC, and LA also have direct-feed ingest that runs every 2 hours alongside the daily Socrata pull. NYC uses DOB NOW Build (w9ak-ipjd); LA uses the LADBS permit dataset (p8h5-wgk8). These direct feeds reduce lag from 3–7 days to 12–24 hours for those markets.
